Funding worth a total of £12,759.83 was awarded to a range of local groups and projects in the area of benefit of the Hillhead of Auquhirie Wind Farm Community Fund.

Fern Community Funds, a leading independent renewable energy developer, established the Hillhead of Auquhirie Community Benefit Fund to support local groups and projects. Funding is available for the benefit of the communities living in the Community Council areas of Arbuthnott; Mearns; Catterline, Kinneff and Dunnottar; Stonehaven and District.  Administered by Kincardineshire Development Partnership (KDP), applications to the fund are assessed by a Decision-Making panel made up of representatives from all four Community Council areas.  The fund is available annually for the lifetime of the wind farm which is provided by current owners Octopus Investments.

Successful applicants included Marykirk Outdoor Bowling Club - £550; Memorial Park Group, Laurencekirk - £1,227.10; Auchenblae Parks Committee - £1170; Auchenblae Pre School Group - £2060.85; McDonald/Carnegie Residents Social Fund - £2,000; Stonehaven Community Radio - £1,151.88;  HomeStart Kincardine - £1,000; Kincardine & Mearns Citizens Advice Bureau - £1,000; Stonehaven Lions - £1,000 and Mearns Singers - £1600

Unfortunately, this year there was no Awards Ceremony due to Covid restrictions.

The Hillhead of Auquhirie Community Fund will reopen on 1st April 2022, with a closing date of 30th June 2022.  Application Forms and Guidance Notes will be published in advance.
