Funding worth a total of £17,259.19 was awarded to a range of local groups and projects in the area of benefit of the Hillhead of Auquhirie Wind Farm Community Fund.

Fern Community Funds, a leading independent renewable energy developer, established the Hillhead of Auquhirie Community Benefit Fund to support local groups and projects. Funding is available for the benefit of the communities living in the Community Council areas of Arbuthnott; Mearns; Catterline, Kinneff and Dunnottar; Stonehaven and District.  Administered by Kincardineshire Development Partnership (KDP), applications to the fund are assessed by a Decision-Making panel made up of representatives from all four Community Council areas.  The fund is available annually for the lifetime of the wind farm which is provided by current owners Octopus Investments.

Successful applicants included Catterline Coastal Rowing Club - £240; Fordoun Defibrillator Group - £1000; Luthermuir Hall & Park Committee – £4000; West Cairnbeg Forum - £2148; Auchenblae Pre School Group - £1000; Fettercairn Public Property Committee - £2808; Stonehaven & District Horticultural Society - £320; Stonehaven Thistle Cricket Club - £1000; 1297 Stonehaven Squadron Air Cadets - £788.30; HomeStart Kincardine - £954.89; K&D Befriending - £1000 and Stonehaven Amateur Swimming Club - £2000.

Unfortunately, this year there was no Awards Ceremony due to current restrictions.

As a result of Covid, the Hillhead of Auquhirie Community Fund did not allocate grants in 2020.  Instead, the fund is allocating twice in 2021, with the second allocation of funding about to take place.
